The Ubiquiti NanoStation Loco M5 (LOCOM5) is a compact and cost-effective 5 GHz airMAX equipment designed for outdoor and indoor use, which offers high-performance wireless connectivity. It operates in the 5 GHz frequency band, specifically within the 5170-5875 MHz range, which helps to mitigate common interference in the more congested 2.4 GHz band.
The device has a 13 dBi double polarity antenna with a minimum cross-polarization insulation of 20 dB, which provides a beam width of 45 ° on both the horizontal and vertical plane, improving the focus and reach of the signal.
The LOCOM5 offers real external performance of more than 150 Mbps, using MIMO 2 × 2 technology and the airMAX TDMA protocol, which program data transmission at previously designated time intervals to remove collisions of hidden nodes and maximize emission time efficiency. This results in significant improvements in latency, performance and scalability compared to standard Wi-Fi systems. The device is able to support point to point or point to multipoint long distance links, with a range of up to 15 km (approximately 9.3 miles) in optimal conditions.
It is fed by passive feeding through Ethernet (PoE) using a 24 V and 0.5 A adapter, which is included with the unit, and consumes a maximum of 5.5 W of energy. The device is built with an external plastic housing stabilized against UV rays and features a post-mounted design with an included assembly kit, which makes it suitable for various installation environments. It includes a 10 / 100 Mbps Ethernet port for data connectivity and meets the NDAA.
